A screwdriver makes a lousy hammer. Try as you might, that nail isn’t going to go in. You’re going to swear a little bit and then give up.

Sadly, that’s much like many American’s weight loss efforts. They work like crazy to get fit only to feel like they’ve wasted months and years when their efforts don’t pay off. Then what? They give up.

That’s a very sad place to be. If only they had used the right tool for the job.

The right tool for us at CFW has been a Paleo way of eating. Our last couple of Nutrition Challenges have been tons of fun and potent for weight loss-

Last year our Lean Turkey Challenge male and female winners lost 21 and 18 pounds along with 4 and 3.75 inches respectively in 6 weeks! WOW! You can check out the challenge website- HERE

Earlier this year we partnered with Chick-Fil-A Waxahachie and had incredible results! 122 lbs lost and 13 inches off for the group and 22+ lbs and 2.5 inches for our winner- Kyle! (FYI- Kyle has lost 37 lbs to date! AWESOME JOB!!) Click HERE for the 2011 CFA Health Challenge site.

Britt is a Paleo Rockstar!

Real food gets real results- go figure.

Just about every category has a tie-in to nutrition- weight and body composition, performance, mood, blood pressure, cholesterol, insulin regulation and much more. In our experience (along with countless other coaches and nutritionists who haven’t bought into the USDA Food Pyramid and Standard American Diet) the Paleo diet improves all of these markers with no downside. In fact, about the about only challenge some of us have found is eating enough food!

So if you’re tired of counting stuff (ie calories, fat grams, etc) and sick of trying to starve the fat off your hips, then check this out:

Eat meat in the form of fish, chicken, pork and beef.

Eat fruits and veggies (more veggies than fruit especially if you’re trying to lose weight).

Eat good fat- a few nuts and seeds but don’t go crazy here- much less than a handful, coconut, coconut oil, coconut milk, olive oil, and avocados.

Eat to support activity not your mood.

Don’t eat in front of the TV. (you’ll make poor, mindless choices and/or overeat)

Shop on the outer perimeter of the grocery store. What’s good in the middle? Spices, tea, coconut milk

Buy foods that spoil but eat them before they do. (See above)

Get 8-9 hour of sleep.

Workout with weight (relatively heavy-ish) and use intensity (ie interval training, plyometrics, or just plain old speed) in smart doses.

Want more? We’re having a Paleo Nuts & Bolts Class on Wednesday, April 13th at 6pm at CrossFit Waxahachie. This class will give you all the info on Paleo How To. It’s free for CFW & BFC members and only $5 for non-members. Make plans to join us!

  1. This excites me like crazy!! To borrow a phrase from Melissa of Whole 9, This. Will. Change. Your. Life.

This is the good stuff, folks! 🙂

  2. If you don’t believe you can do the paleo way of eating or it won’t make that much of a difference, just TRY IT!!! I didn’t believe it but after the Chickfila challenge, I am a believer and my family is paleo! It is so awesome to see my kids eating healthy and losing weight. If I can do this way of eating, believe me anyone can!
