Assisted and unassisted pull ups.

I get told by a lot of people, “I could NEVER do what you guys do at CFW!” When they see the pics and vids of workouts or they see what the workout of the day (WOD) is online, it can be intimidating. What they don’t see is how we work with everyone who wants do CrossFit.

Let me share a secret with you:

At CrossFit Waxahachie we have the ability to scale each workout as needed for individuals. Sometimes it’s as simple as reducing the amount of weight. For other workouts, we change the amount of time or number of rounds. We can even further modify the actual movements based on ability and/or injury.

So, when I post the WOD to CFW, it’s the hardest version. Some do it as written, but more often than not, we make changes based on individual needs. All the while with the goal to get to where one can do the workout as written or as prescribed (Rx’d).

The beauty of this scalability is that we can have athletes who have been here for years going all BEASTMODE right next to brand new athletes who just finished ELEMENTS yesterday. Are the workouts hard? Sure, but when we talk about intensity, it’s all relative. It’s more intense than what you’re doing now, but in a few weeks you’ll be able to push even harder! That’s when the magic happens!

Intensity is relative. You don't always have to end like this.

In Greg Glassman’s CF Journal article, What Is Fitness, he describes it this way:

The needs of an Olympic athlete and our grandparents differ by degree not kind. One is looking for functional dominance the other for functional competence. Competence and dominance manifest through identical physiological mechanisms. We’ve used our same routines for elderly individuals with heart disease and cage fighters one month out from televised bouts. We scale load and intensity; we don’t change programs.

So, is CrossFit right for you? Let’s check the list:

  • Do you have a body?
  • Do you want to function/move well?
  • Do you want to be more active than you are currently?
  • Would you like to have more strength, endurance, stamina, coordination, and balance?

If so, CrossFit is right for you!

Why don’t you do yourself a HUGE favor and contact me to schedule your Elements class today. You won’t regret it! Get ready to have FUN getting FIT!

The magic is in the movement, the art is in the programming, the science is in the explanation, and the fun is in the community. -Greg Glassman
