When I first started doing CrossFit in late ’07 they had just had the very first CF Games out in Aromas California. Worker-outers from all across the country came to test themselves in a battle of the fittest. It was a very small and laid back event. During my geek out period (you know CF vids 24/7 for a few months) I studied the metrics of the top 3 athletes at those games- James “OPT” Fitzgerald, Brett Marshall, and Josh Everett. In 2008, the documentary Every Second Counts chronicled top athletes in CF as they prepared for and competed in the second CF Games. In 2009 and 2010, I watched the South Central Regional held in a parking lot at GSX CrossFit in Ft. Worth.

Sitting in the Freeman Coliseum this past weekend was unreal! To see the level of growth- from the number and condition of the athletes and the fan base- was AWESOME!! I love the “Sport of Fitness” and am super excited to see it grow and grow!
