Spicy Sweet Bacon Wrapped Brat Bites

photo

We’ve made these brats from Cavegirl Cuisine a couple of times. They’re great paired with a nice salad for lunch. They even freeze well so go ahead and make up a big batch for your carnivores!

Ingredients

3 Gluten Free Beers (Redbridge from Sprouts is probably your best bet if you want to go GF. Otherwise a Shiner is good to go.)

1 Onion, roughly chopped

3 Bratwursts

6 Slices of Bacon

1/4 cup of Honey

1 tbsp of Hot Sauce (we used Franks)

1/4 cup chopped Parsley (optional garnish)

12 Toothpicks

Directions

Bring beers, onions and brats to a boil in a pot. Cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes.

Let brats cool and cut into quarters.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Wrap each brat with a section of bacon and secure with a toothpick.

Whisk together honey and hot sauce. Brush onto the wrapped brats.

Place on a broiler rack or raised rack over a cookie sheet to catch drippings.

Cook for 35 minutes or until bacon is crisp. Garnish and serve.
